ZuperMeal, which was co-founded by Pallavi Saxena, Balasubramanian A and Prabhakar Banerjee, is a portal which allows home chefs to market their skills and sell home cooked food. It deals with everything from monitoring quality control and hygiene in the home chefs’ kitchens to sorting out logistics that will allow the meals to reach customers.
Currently operating out of Powai, ZuperMeal gives prospective chefs an idea of what to cook on their website; “You can cook whatever you cook best. The recipes learnt from your Dadi-Nani. Your favorite besan laddoo or thepla. Or bake your special cakes, muffins and cookies.”
ZuperMeal currently has 150 chefs enrolled in its database and sends out 60 to 70 meals per day. It is available in the Google Play Store and allows customers to pay through credit or debit cards, NetBanking, cash on deliver or e-wallets.
As the cost of eating out goes up, customers find themselves looking for wholesome meals at cheaper prices, which online portals like ZuperMeal are able to facilitate and provide. Subsequently, by 2020, ZuperMeal aims to expand across 500 towns with 60,000 chefs on board. The funds will be used to upgrade technology, in marketing and in expanding the team.
