7 Celebrity Chefs Reveal The Ingredients They Would Never Put In Their Food
We as eaters can be supremely picky, but chefs, on the other hand, are usually expected to have the ability to cook with and even stomach every ingredient on the planet. Allow us to bust that common myth for you because not all chefs are okay with all the foods out there. Here are seven such culinary masters who profess their sheer distaste for that one ingredient, which they would never eat or use in cooking.
-
Gordon Ramsay
For Ramsay, it’s not a particular ingredient that turns his appetite away, it’s a whole type of meal that he dislikes – flight meals. Why aren’t we surprised? Although, it’s interesting to know that it’s not the science behind this universal hatred for most flight meals that drives Ramsay’s aversion, it’s his history in the airline industry. In an interview with Refinery29, “I worked for airlines for ten years, so I know where this food’s been and where it goes, and how long it took before it got on board.” Yep, that’s enough to make anyone hate in-flight food.

Ina Garten
Give the Barefoot Contessa anything and she’ll whip up magic with it. Unless it’s green and named cilantro. In addition to the leafy ingredient, Garten is not a fan of “things with eyeballs. And foam,” she revealed in an interview for Refinery29.
-
Ayesha Curry
In addition to chocolate, which doesn’t have many fans in the Currys’ home except for the lady of the house, the Curry household is also not big on foie gras. While Ayesha Curry hasn’t come across a recipe good enough to instate her faith in foie gras, the rest of the Currys too doesn’t request much of this particular food. “I think it’s a texture thing for me”, she told Entertainment Tonight.
-
Chrissy Teigen
Calling it “the most overrated snack-category food alive”, “flavorless paste”, and “boring”, American model and culinary expert Chrissy Teigen has on numerous occasions expressed her dislike for hummus. And if you’re a fan of the Middle Eastern dip, according to Teigen you just like pita chips. Think about that.
-
Martha Stewart
While a number of ace chefs out there are shelling out hundreds of dollars to procure the best of this highly sought after and flavoursome ingredient, Stewart would rather stick with facts that deem the oil unhealthy. “It’s bad. They’ve done many studies on truffle oil. It’s synthetic, it’s fake, it’s horrible. It clings to your taste buds, it’s a hideous thing. Forget truffle oil”, she explained in an interview for TODAY Food. Stewart, however, isn’t alone in boycotting truffle oil.
-
Anthony Bourdain
Apart from “manly foods” and truffle oil, Anthony Bourdain is a staunch non-believer of pumpkin spice. The Parts Unknown host openly professed his dislike for the popular fall flavor, saying he’d rather the flavor “drowned in its own blood”. However, he did realize the predominant love for Pumpkin spice everything and in an interview went on to admit that he sounded “like a complete curmudgeon”.

Rachael Ray
Did you know that there exists an ‘I Hate Mayonnaise Club’ and that popular chef Rachael Ray once featured it on her talk show? Well, needless to say at this point, Ray is not a fan of the creamy white condiment, much like a number of celebrity gastronomes out there, including former POTUS Barack Obama and TV show host Jimmy Fallon.
