Barack Obama Spoke For All Of Us When He Wrote This About Anthony Bourdain

on

Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain left his fans shocked as news of his untimely death hit the wires this Friday. And as the world mourned the food, beverage, and entertainment industry’s huge loss, some took to social media to express their deepest remorse over the unfortunate incident. One such heartfelt tribute came from former American President Barrack Obama.

For the uninitiated, Obama and Bourdain shared a meal and screen space on the latter’s Emmy-winning show, Parts Unknown back in March 2016. The duo was captured at a small restaurant in Hanoi, Vietnam bonding over traditional bun cha noodles and some local beer. The table at which the two dined was also memorialized a year later.

In a piece published for CNN, Bourdain wrote about his memorable dinner and interview with the (then) President, saying “I can tell you that Barack Obama was, in spite of having had a high-ranking leader of the Taliban whacked in Pakistan a few days previous, very relaxed and at ease. He seemed to enjoy himself sitting on a low plastic stool eating noodles and pork bits with chopsticks.”

Reminiscing their evening out in Hanoi, Obama took to Twitter to remember and honor his Friend ‘Tony’. “’Low plastic stool, cheap but delicious noodles, cold Hanoi beer.’ This is how I’ll remember Tony. He taught us about food — but more importantly, about its ability to bring us together. To make us a little less afraid of the unknown. We’ll miss him”, he wrote.

And, with that, it’s probably safe to say that Obama spoke for all of us.

RIP Bourdain.
