Government Ensures Safety Of Food Supplied To Pilgrims In Kerala
According to the reports by The Hindu, the government has ensure the safety of food being supplied for pilgrims headed to Sabarimala and those staying in transit camps during the ongoing pilgrimage season. The Health Minister, K.K. Shylaja told the talked about the safety measures being taken at the inauguration of a mobile food analysis laboratory of the Health Department at Nilackal on Thursday.
Food Safety Measures Taken
Shylaja told The Hindu that to test the food quality at Sabarimala Pampa, Nilackal and Erumely, the department had set up different laboratories that include two mobile labs. Along with the laboratories, there are sixty food safety officers which includes the assistant commissioners who keep a tab on the food hygiene by carrying out periodic checks at varies hotels and restaurants.
The Minister also talked about how the water supplied by Kerala Water Authority, Travancore Devaswom Board and the Ayyappa Seva Sanghom are periodically analysed. Also, the raw materials being used to cook Aravana, Appam and Annadanam have to go through a quality check at the lab set up at Pampa before it is taken to Sannidhanam. Lastly, there are two toll free numbers also set up as a provision to the pilgrims using which they can contact the food safety departments.
