Hungry? Simply Send A Food Emoji To Fooji And Get A Meal Delivered To Your Door

on

This month, Oxford Dictionaries’ named their ‘word’ of the year “Face With Tears Of Joy” – which, as anyone exposed to any technology would know is not a word, but an emoji. However, even before the dictionary geniuses accepted it as a word, a company called Fooji in New York was allowing users to place food orders using emoji instead of words

Fooji

Food + Emoji = Fooji

Understanding that people today don’t want to have to brave any real human contact (i.e calling up and ordering) or even navigate confusing restaurant menus (when ordering online) when it comes to ordering food, Fooji has cut all unnecessary contact and just requires customers to message or tweet to them an emoji of the type of food they’re feeling. Craving some noodles? Send them that emoji of that bowl of ramen. If you’re in the mood for something Japanese, send them that delicious looking emoji of sushi. Wait a while, and food based on that emoji will arrive at your door.

The Adventurous Foodie

Naturally, the emoji will be unable to describe exact food requirements; i.e must not be too spicy/gluten-free, please! So, Fooji has aimed itself at a demographic of adventurous eaters who are willing to try whatever turns up on their plate.

On their part, Fooji teams up with various four and five star restaurants in the area each week and pairs emoticons with different items at the restaurants to keep things exciting. Each week, then, the same emoticon could result in different kinds of food, all for a flat fee of $15 (tipping and delivery charges included). If you’re fussy about what you eat and/or have allergies, Fooji says ‘then fooji is not for you my friend. There’s an old saying, “if you can’t stand the fooji, get out of the kitchen.” we think that’s how it goes…’

If you are open to adventure (and live in New York, San Francisco or Chicago) then head over to the Fooji website for a one time sign up. Then, send over your first emoji and, in half an hour to forty five minutes your food will arrive!

What say, are you ready to get adventurous with your food and put those emojis to good use?
