IRCTC To Set Up Stalls And Sell Food On Railway Platforms
According to a report by the Financial Express, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has been given permission by the Railway Board to sell food on train platforms. The move has come as a part of the railways’ efforts to make quality food available for the travellers. Till now, IRCTC stalls could only sell food at a concourse areas of the stations.
Quality IRCTC Food For Passengers
The report by the Financial Express says that the board has issued a circular with regards to this new policy to the zonal railways. The circular states that platform vending be allowed at various local stations as per the requirement. Further, this catering permission can be issued to food plazas, refreshment rooms and other functional catering stalls by the zonal railways. Along with this over time, the Indian Railways and IRCTC has taken various steps to improve food quality like setting up of CCTV cameras at base kitchens.
