McDonald’s India To Invest Upto 35 Lakhs Per Outlet In Its McCafe Brand

According to recent reports, Hardcastle Restaurants, which operates McDonald’s outlets in West and South India will invest in individual outlets aggressively over the next two years to expand their McCafe brand.

In India, McCafes are store-in-stores; coffee focused cafes inside McDonald’s outlets. McCafes were started in Australia in 1993 and focus on serving a range of beverages including hot and cold coffees and fruit smoothies.

Commenting on the presence of McCafés in India, Smita Jatia, Managing Director of McDonald’s India West & South said “We have rolled out 75 McCafés across 9 cities – Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Kolhapur, Aurangabad, Ahmedabad, Vapi, Indore, and Bangalore since its launch in October 2013. McCafé is where good food and great beverages intersect – truly the best of both worlds.”

Expanding The McCafe Brand

In a recent statement, Jatia said “In a span of two years McCafe network has expanded across 75 restaurants as of March 31st, 2016 and we plan to double the base in the next 12-18 months with capital investments of Rs 30-35 lakh per McCafe outlet.”

These investment plans are in line with McDonald’s push focus on highlighting its beverage offerings which will draw customers in between meal times.
