Mega Food Parks To Be Setup In Union Territories Of India
According to an update by the F&B News, the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) wants to set up mega food parks in the states that do not have them as well as the union territories. The parks will be established under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojna and the MoFPI is already open for proposals. Some of the states that do not have mega food parks include Goa, Manipur, Meghalaya, Sikkim and Tamil Nadu. These states and the union territories are to submit applications by 9th of February.

“MoFPI is inviting proposals/expressions of interest (EoIs) from the potential promoters for setting up MFPs in the country. Proposals received for setting up mega food parks in the uncovered states and all the UTs against the vacancies available for the project will be considered,” said the notice by MoFPI reports F&B News. In case these states do not submit an application for the food parks then the ones who already have them will be considered for new ones.
The report also says that currently there are 42 mega food parks in India out of which only 13 are operational. The ones functioning are present in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Punjab, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Gujarat.
