More Than One Thousand Litres Of Adulterated Milk Seized In Mumbai

According to a report by Mumbai Live, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Mumbai Crime Branch has seized more than 1075 litres of adulterated milk on Wednesday. The team managed to crack the adulteration racket going on in Mumbai’s Santacruz East area and have arrested four people.

In a similar case, adulterated ghee and tea were being sold in popular brand packets in Punjab. Plus, this is the second milk adulteration case in 15 days in the city. The previous racket which was busted was located in a house in Santacruz’s Lokhandwala Chawl whereas the one raided on Wednesday was at Santacruz’s Subhash Nagar slum. The crime branch not only seized the adulterated milk but also found 6,900 empty milk packets of different popular brands from both rackets reports Mumbai Live.

The report further says that according to Shailesh Adhav, Joint Commissioner of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 151 litres of milk was found at the Lokhandwala location and 920 litres was found at the slum. The adulterated milk which was found and then later destroyed costed Rs.44, 982.
