Relish Tantalizing Delights At Henpecked In The Art Precinct Of Mumbai

Set the by lanes of Kala Ghoda, Henpecked believes in a farm to fork concept. A chic, dim-lit restaurant complete with interiors that attempt at showcasing a traditional European farmers’ home. The concept replicate their own motive – encouraging Indian farmers by using the local produce in the food.

The Experience

The charm of the restaurant itself makes you feel cozy and comfortable that you won’t take time to settle in. The restaurant boasts of a variety of food out of which we chose to try the Dark Hummus made using black garbanzo and butternut squash. The earthy flavours were exciting, homely and with a freshly made wood fired pita, it was the highlights of the evening.

Next we tried the Braised Lamb Smoked Aubergine with yoghurt and pine nuts at Henpecked. The lamb was succulent and absolutely delicious. The creaminess exuded by the yoghurt and the crunch of the pine nuts made for a great combo. We paired our food with two of their cocktails – Green Snapper and Farmer’s Ex-Wife.

As quirky the names, the quirkier the cocktails. Green snapper was spiked with vodka and the amalgamation of pineapple juice, green tobacco and sea salt gave it a spicy kick that went very well with the food. We loved the freshness of the muddled coriander and fresh mint as well. Next we sipped on the second cocktail called the Farmer’s Ex-Wife. We don’t know how happy the ex-wife was about leaving the farmer because the drink had beautiful notes of rosemary infused gin, pomelo shrub blended beautifully with St. Germain Elderflower Liquer. It was our favourite blend for the evening.
