5 Breweries in Mumbai That Will Make You Fall In Love with Craft Beers
Your Guide to Mumbai’s Breweries
It looks like Mumbai has been taking lessons from its neighbour, Pune in brewing. Pune has been at the forefront of the craft beer revolution in India, and Mumbai seems determined to catch up. Both Doolally and Brewbot recently got their licenses, and are now among the craft beer stalwarts in the city. Here’s where you should be heading on your craft beer pilgrimage across Mumbai!
1) Doolally Taproom
Doolally gets its brews fresh from the flagship Doolally in Pune each day. While both the beer and food menus are comparatively small, you can be assured of quality from each and every item on offer. Read our full feature of Doolally here!
2) Brewbot
Having recently got its brewing license, Brewbot is offering craft beers brewed by American brewmaster Julie Bagett. Among these you can expect the ‘Skywalker’, a Kolsch beer, the ‘Floating Head’ – a Hefewizen, the ‘Mojo Rising’, a Midwestern Pale Ale and the ‘Black Mamba’ a Chocolate Oat Cream Stout. Enjoy the beers with some awesome burgers and classic music.
3) The White Owl
The White Owl is a giant among beer destinations in Mumbai. A cute white owl mascot adorns the mugs that the beers are served in, but forget about gushing over that and just start to chug. Try the Ace, the Diablo and the Halcyon. They have a menu with other alcohols as well, but why ever would your order from that?
4) The Barking Deer
Head to The Barking Deer for an authentic pub like atmosphere and great food that highlights the main attraction of the pub – their witty, whimsical beers. Try the Flying Pig Belgian Wit and the Bombay Blonde – two beers guaranteed to keep you happy all night long.
5) Gateway Brewing Co
In the ultimate tribute to Mumbai, the men behind Gateway Brewing Co; Rahul Mehra, Krishna Nayak and Navin Mittal named their beloved brewery after the Gateway of India. Sample their beautiful beers at multiple restaurants and pubs across Mumbai including 3 Wise Men, 3 Wise Monkeys, The Bombay Canteen and Irish House. Take your pick!
