Chef Vikas Khanna Bags Honorary Doctorate From G.D. Goenka University

Restaurateur, chef, entrepreneur, author, television host, filmmaker, and now Vikas Khanna is taking more than just the culinary world by storm, and how! The five-time Michelin star winning chef, who has served the elite like of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Former POTUS Barack Obama, and Queen Elizabeth II, was bestowed with an honorary doctorate from GD Goenka University, Haryana.

“This is the first time that GD Goenka University confers a doctorate, Chef Vikas Khanna has a great impact on culinary art and humanity, over the years, and he has carved a niche for himself as an artist, documentary filmmaker, humanitarian and a renowned Chef. We look forward to honoring more such exemplary individuals who have achieved distinction in their fields and who will provide inspiration to our graduates and students,” Prof. (Dr.) Shrihari, the VC of the university said.

 

Master Of All

This marks yet another milestone in the 46-year-old’s commendable career during which he has touched upon gastronomy, philanthropy, altruism, and humanitarianism at the strength of his dedication and remarkable culinary prowess, which clearly is not limited only to the kitchen.

Khanna has been an active part of television hosting popular shows like MasterChef India, Twist of Taste on FOX Life, Junior Master Chef India that aired on Star Plus. He has also penned twenty-nine books till date apart from being part of a documentary christened Buried Seeds, which is a biopic on his life and journey. So, saying that the doctorate is well deserved, would be an understatement. 

“I’m honored and delighted to get this recognition and love from GD Goenka University, Haryana, and tread in the world of academia with illustrious thinkers, leaders, and personalities. I look forward to the University continuing on its path as a great learning institute, appreciating and encouraging philanthropic work and excellence across streams”, the chef said. He shared his delight on becoming “Dr. Chef Vikas Khanna”.


In other news, the chef is currently working on his 30th literary work PATRA- The Heritage of Indian Kitchens, which will document hundreds of years of India’s kitchen utensils and more. He took to Instagram to share this other news with his followers. The book will be launched later this year along with Khanna’s Museum Of Culinary Arts on April 7th.
