Get Set Go On A Culinary Voyage From Hamburg to Hastinapur in Delhi
A man once set out on a journey from Hamburg, Germany to Hastinapur, India by land. On his way he crossed a chunk of Middle East Asia and parts of Western Europe, that is, over 10 countries and a number of cultural, ethnic and culinary diversities. Ok so there was no such man (not that we know of at least), but if there was then ‘Hamburg To Hastinapur’ is the food journal of his journey across continents, countries and cultures from Hamburg to Hastinapur.
In & Around
Hamburg To Hastinapur is located in the ever-thriving Hauz Khas Village and offers a relaxed lounge-like ambience to sit back in. the place has been done up in a no non-sense way that gives you an option to either perch high on tall chairs, kick back on couches or sit up and enjoy the journey from Germany to India.
With an overall casual yet orderly appeal the place attracts young crowds who are in search for good reasonable food inside yet away from the drunken madness of HKV.
The Food Journal
With traditional grubs from countries like Germany, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan, the restaurant menu has something on offer for everyone. From hearty continental bites and Italian chow to delectable North Indian and spot-on Middle Eastern grubs, Hamburg to Hastinapur has it all.
With a beverage menu that is as boozy as it is experimental, you can leave it to the bar to refresh you and give your taste buds a delicious buzz. Take your pick from a variety of mocktails or let yourself free in the cocktail section.
What We Had:
Thai Virgin Mojito
Infused with signature Thai ingredients like kaafir lime and basil leaves, the Thai Virgin Mojito nails the concept of chilled refresher.
Sunset Cooler
The sunset cooler is a frothy beverage that derives its name from the color of the drink, which stems from its fruity ingredients. Infused with refreshing peach extracts the drink is everything you need when parched.
Samousek
This crunchy paneer-filled samosa is an Iranian special that is served with hummus. The crunchy and seasoned crust compliments the hot and delightful stuffing deliciously.
Paneer Tikka
The classic north Indian favorite, marinated and char grilled to perfection.
Chelo Kebab
Yet another delight from Iran, this Chelo Kebab’s presentation (though a bit cumbersome) was an innovation in itself. The dish was everything that you expect from a good Chelo platter –juicy kebabs on skewers and steaming rice topped with a fried egg.
Lamb Tagine with Cous Cous
Clearle a winner, the Lamb Tajine and Cous Cous is what delectable meals are made of. Slow cooked lamb chunks in a thick flavored gravy served with flavored cous cous totally made our day. Too bad licking a plate in public is considered bad manners because we would’ve done it!
Chocolate Pizza
Because enough gluttony had not been committed, a chocolate pizza had to top off all the decadence. With crumbled dark chocolate and chopped nuts sitting atop a freshly baked crust, the chocolate pizza was exactly how it sounds. Sinfully good.
With the menu, ambience and service in place, Hamburg To Hastinapur scores high on all scales and we absolutely can’t wait to save a spot there again!
