If you’re a foodie who’ll go places to get yourself a nice meal, Shaack in Anna Nagar, is definitely worth a visit. We made our way to this little nook recently, which is owned by Deepak William and Dominic Prabhu, a partnership of two people who have dreamt of owning a restaurant for long. What’s awesome about this place is that they’re open all day so they guarantee to satisfy your hunger whenever you need it. On entering, you can spot a wall covered by a waterfall, squares of rope woven together on the ceiling, a wooden floor, and coloured bottles with candles on every table. The décor touches on the actual shacks, like the ones on the beach, that the owners always had in mind to recreate. So although this little joint isn’t by the beach, it is inspired by one and dishes out food that will fill you up.

Let’s talk food. Like shacks at the beach, this restaurant offers a huge number of seafood delights, but that’s not all. There is a little bit of everything on the menu, promising to keep everyone happy and everyone’s taste buds satisfied. Brace yourself for a brilliant mix of Continental, Asian, and South Indian flavours when you visit Shaack. For your perfect three course meal, there are plenty of starters and mains you can choose from, if not continental or Indian, across cuisines like Vietnamese, Chinese, and Thai. The menu also has a spread of burgers, pizzas, and pastas that you can try, all of which promise nothing but great flavour! Surprisingly, the restaurant also serves biriyani and we’ve learnt that that decision came about because they decided you just can’t live without it in Chennai!

What we had:

Cambodian Charcoal Grilled Fish

This was a delicious appetizer of fish that was cooked to perfection. With a great mango salsa served on top, this was definitely a great way to begin a meal as it kept you hungry for more.

Kai Satay

We absolutely loved this grilled chicken on skewers. It was served with a humble peanut sauce that was strangely addictive yet enjoyable!

Chicken Parmigiana

For something simple and delicious, we recommend you try this crumb fried chicken that is oh-so-tender, served with mozzarella cheese and an Italian tomato sauce.

Grilled Fillet Of Fish Epaphus

This was one of our favourites. A lip-smacking fish, cooked perfectly in subtle spices, and served with a mango mustard. And, oh my god, you will not be able to get over that mustard sauce.

Prawn Barbados

Grilled prawns are awesome, especially when you can enjoy it in a sweet calypso sauce with a helping of steamed rice. It’s a must-try for all the prawn lovers.

Thai Green Curry With Chicken

If you like Thai food, you are bound to enjoy this beautiful homemade-style preparation of a Thai green curry with the softest chicken.

Chili Basil Fried Rice With Egg

This Pan-Asian dish is nothing short of comfort food and is sure to fill you up. Graced with the flavour of basil and a generous portion of egg, this makes a perfect simple meal that you can enjoy.

Shaack also offers a great list of beverages that you can choose from. We had the Mint Iced Tea and Virgin Blue Lagoon, and they were totally refreshing. You can also try their desserts, which are on display, for a little something for your sweet tooth after your meal.
